Enough is enough! If Confederate statues like Robert E. Lee are under renewed scrutiny, why should other relics of a different era be immune?

Chris Powell has gotten a pass for decades of offensive writing for the Journal Inquirer insulting minorities, single mothers, teachers, the mentally ill, union leaders, Native Americans and immigrants - anyone who challenges the white power structure. Tragically, even parents of the slain children of Sandy Hook, aren't immune to attacks from Chris Powell. 

With his latest bigoted screed, he demonizes state Senator Saud Anwar, the only Muslim member of the Connecticut General Assembly for simply defending himself.

Anwar has been a Powell target since at least 2016 when, as Managing Editor, he commissioned a mystifying front page feature about Muslim's "seeking balance with American culture."

As readers, subscribers and advertisers of the Journal Inquirer, we demand more from our local paper. The message is clear: 

Enough is enough. It's time to for Chris Powell to retire.
