Make MLK week the official tri-state area Yeshiva Week vacation.

The Issue

We request the change of "Yeshiva Week" to always coincide with Martin Luther King weekend beginning Jan 2022

Arguments for this are:

-SUPPORT FOR WORKING PARENTS-  Today, many working parents get MLK day as a vacation day and it's much easier if they can fold this day-off into their vacation, which is already hard to take, just a few weeks after Christmas. Some working grandparents would also like to vacation with grand kids at times, especially when the parents can't take off, and this will help them as well.
- PREDICTABILITY- If the vacation was consistent, it would be easier to predict from year to year and therefore plan with greater ease when it comes to Bar Mitzvahs and so on. It is confusing for it to change every year and have "research", call the school etc as to when Yeshiva break will be each year.
-COHESIVENESS ACROSS THE MODERN ORTHODOX YESHIVA COMMUNITY- Some modern orthodox yeshivot have already moved to MLK week and it's frustrating for them when Yeshiva week for others is different, if they want to vacation with cousins, or join a kosher program that only runs during yeshiva week. To keep "Yeshiva week" cohesive, it is time to officially move it to MLK week across the board.

-FAMILY VACATIONING TOGETHER- Some families have older kids at college whose vacation schedule often ends at the end of MLK weekend.  They would  like to vacation as a family, when possible. Moving yeshiva week to MLK week, will increase the probability of overlap for those families.

-RESPECT TO OUR NATIONAL HOLIDAYS- Martin Luther King Day is a national holiday. Most modern orthodox Yeshivas are off on other national holidays including, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, President's day, New Years Day and Memorial Day.  When Yeshiva week does not coincide with MLK day, the schools are open.  Rolling it into Yeshiva Break is an easy way to achieve this and respect our country's national holidays.
