To support the Irish Post Office Network

The Issue

We, the undersigned call on the Irish government to protect and support the Irish Post Office network.  The Government in its 'Programme for Government 2011' made a commitment to sustain the Post Office network, however three years on no plan of action has been made.  Without a plan the Irish Post Office network will not be sustainable and many post offices will close.

The local post office offers more than just a postal service- it is part of the core of Irish communities. The Grant Thornton report (commissioned by the Irish Postmasters Union) and Joint Oireachtas on Communications report provide a clear outline for what needs to be done in order to save and more importantly grow the Post Office.

We, the undersigned ask the Irish government to act on these recommendations and deliver on its commitment to sustain, support and grow the Post Office network. Action needs to be taken immediately.
