Ban Donald Trump & Mike Pence From Entering Ireland
The Issue
Donald Trump and Mike Pence stand for everything Ireland is not. Our values do not align with theirs and we wish to ban them from visiting Ireland as a show that we neither support nor condone their policies or their actions.
Donald Trump has an outstanding rape case pending against him. He advocated "grabbing (women) by the pussy" and a number of women have made sexual assault allegations against him. Ireland does not think that sexual assault is acceptable. Ireland stands with women and against Donald Trump.
Trump has said that women who have abortions should be punished. Mike Pence has said that women who have miscarriages should be punished. While abortion is illegal in Ireland, Irish law allows for information and travel and certainly does not advocate for the punishment of women who suffer miscarriages or are forced to have an abortion for health reasons. Ireland stands with women and children and against Trump and Pence.
Trump has threatened to mass deport Muslim Americans from America, including the American children of muslims. Ireland is an increasingly diverse country and we welcome other nationalities and religions to our shores. Ireland stands against Trump and Pence on mass deportation, on 'marking' muslims, on building a wall, on deporting the children of immigrants. Irish history shows that many Irish fled to the US during the famine and Ireland stands in solidarity with the descendants of those brave Irish people, against Donald Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Donald Trump wishes to re-outlaw gay marriage in the States and Mike Pence believes that electric shock conversion therapy works to "turn" gay people straight. Ireland legalised gay marriage and we stand with our LGBT friends and family and denounce Trump and Pence on this issue.
Trump has threatened to throw his opponent in jail without due process. This is an affront to justice. Ireland stands against Trump and Pence and on the side of fair trial and a fair and true justice system.
Ireland believes that women matter, that minorities matter, that diversity matters. Ireland wishes to protect the women, future children and citizens of it's nation by distancing itself from Donald Trump and Mike Pence, their policies and their actions.
Sign the petition to encourage the Irish government to stand with it's people and let Donald Trump and Mike Pence know that their views are not in line with ours, and that they are not welcome on our shores.
