Sub: Request waiver off charges for un- availed school services due to the prevailing situation (Covid-19)
Dear Mr. Prince,
As you are aware, covid-19 pandemic has gripped all of our lives and all families are facing great financial hardship. We are living a fearful life and many expatriate jobs and salaries are at stake. The presence of our family with us here in Bahrain is the only coping mechanism during these times of stress and we have no option but to continue our children’s education here in Bahrain.
We understand that ISB has waived off the school Bus fees. While this is a direct consequence of un-utilized services and costs for the school, it still does not provide significant relief for all parents equitably.
On the same grounds, we strongly feel that for the unused services such as Library fees, Infrastructure fees, AC fees, Magazine fees and CEP costing BHD 10.5 or more, should not be charged to parents. You will agree that there are significant cost saving for the school with regard to EWA bill, cleaning cost etc. as the school is closed since Mar 2020.
We as parents, strongly feel that these benefits have to be shared with all families of ISB. We would like to draw your specific attention to the additional expenditure that parents have to incur - BHD 10/ month for the internet, BHD 100 to BHD 300 to buy additional laptop/mobile, BHD 30 for babysitting and increased EWA charges, to just quote a few.
We do understand the fact that you are incurring some expenditure for the online classes, which in our estimate would not exceed BHD 2-3 per student especially in smaller classes. Further, your requirement for submission of a request for help is a sensitive matter for several parents who will be reluctant to share extremely private matters related to job losses and salary reductions with the school management.
I hope you realise the gravity of the situation and recognise the extreme worry, helplessness and frustration faced by all parents over this issue.
We sincerely request you to kindly waive off the above mentioned amount of BHD 10.5, being charged for un-availed services WEF April 2020
