The IDFPR is Closing Small Alternative Healthcare Businesses! HELP!!!

The Issue

My Colon Hydrotherapist has been asked to cease and desist offering colon irrigation (colonics) claiming the therapy is a medical procedure that should only be administered by a medical doctor. This is such a weak argument because doctors are only interested in pushing pills down their patient’s throats. They would never be interested in administering an alternative modality like a colonic because there are no harmful side effects.

Illinois Governor Quinn has made job creation and economic growth his top priority. Yet, the IDFPR, an Illinois state agency, is closing down small businesses in the alternative complimentary industry, which is 95% female, single head of household that employ other practitioners and supports the economy of Illinois. They are levying fines against them as high as $5,000 and if they decide to go to court and fight it could cost between $25,000 and $50,000. The IDFPR and AMA know these small businesses don’t have that kind of money. This would make a service like colon irrigation more restricted due to the medical industry’s red tape.

“Women entrepreneurs are one of our state’s key job creation engines,” Governor Quinn said. “Our goal is to help women find the economic resources necessary to expand their companies and provide more employment for our state.”

This statement is hard to believe, especially since my therapist has been told to turn her business over to a medical doctor and become an employee in the doctor’s practice. How is this action encouraging the growth of women entrepreneurs in Illinois?

"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the lifeblood of our neighborhoods, accounting for nearly half of Chicago's jobs." Mayor Rahm Emanuel

If this is true then why are well trained and highly skilled practitioners who have invested substantial time and money into their businessesbeing told to turn their businesses over to a medical doctor and become their employee? They are not only attacking female small business owners but they are also infringing on my rights to care for my body in a manner I choose. My freedom of choice is to choose alternative modalities.

If they are going to attack and regulate colon irrigation then they need to fine and close down large chain drugstores like Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid for selling over-the-counter enema kits to the general public. All colon irrigation is, is a deeper enema that people have been administering to their own bodies and the bodies of their family with no medical study, background or training since the 1900’s.

If you’ve thought about having or have had colon irrigation before and appreciate the right to choose where you get your service I hope you see the importance of signing this petition. This kind of treatment is unethical. All these certified therapists are trying to do is make a living and helping others continue to live healthy productive lives. Please add your voice, if you want to keep your freedom of choice.
