KYM MARSH BACKS STOP A STALKER CAMPAIGN

MORE than one million people are targeted by stalkers every year.
Coronation Street star Kym Marsh is now backing MP Sarah Wollaston's bid to launch a new Stalking Protection Bill to help victims.
Senior MP Dr Wollaston is proposing a change in the law that would allow police to use Stalking Protection Orders to allow police to take action more quickly - and take the burden away from victims to prove they are being targeted.
It would enable police to apply for a Stalking Protection Order in a magistrates’ court, stopping a stalker from contacting their victim either directly or indirectly.
Kym says: "One million people are affected by stalking.
“The stalkers need to be stopped before they kill.
"Please sign this petition urging the Government to make Dr Wollaston's Stalking Protection Bill law."
Dr Wollaston says: "My private member’s bill would allow an order to be put in place whilst a case was being prepared for court, to protect victims from further harm.
"Stalkers leave their victims feeling powerless and frightened and it is time to take action to put an end to their crimes and to stop this dangerous behaviour escalating to violence."
