Industrial Development is required but it should be "Kind on the Nature", what I mean is Growth should not hinder the Ecology/Environment.The reason for my petition is Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification 2011, released by the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) which earmarks regulations for setting up industries in Buffer Zones like water bodies influenced by tidal effects from sea, in the bays, estuaries,rivers, creeks, backwaters, lagoons, ponds connected to the sea or creeks.The concern is two (2) issues:
(A) The Notification allowing:
1. Projects of Department of Atomic Energy Eg. Kudamkulam Nuclear Power plant
2. Development of green field Airport Eg. Mumbai Airport
3. Manufacture or handling of Petroleum storage
4. Transfer and disposal of hazardous substances from ships to ports, terminals and refineries and vice-versa
(B) The Classification of CRZ zones into CRZ -I,II,III, and IV in the Notification.
The Change what we is need is in
(A) If the industries are allowed to setup only if they Re-habitat the Displaced people, Displaced species of Flora and Fauna on their own cost. A team of experts to be engaged from State Pollution Board & MoEF jointly for monitoring the activities.
In case of (B) These Classification of Zones affecting the Fishing by traditional methods to be neutralized.
I am asking the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), The Hon. Minister Mrs. Jayanthi Natarajan to take a note of it and take action at the earliest and mean while stop issuing Environment Clearance (EC) to the current projects in stream until the changes were amended.
