This is important because Bahais face systematic persecution from cradle to grave. The harshness of the sentence of the seven Bahai leaders reflects that persecution. India is a good friend of Iran and hosts the largest Bahai population. It is in the best position to ask Iran to respect the rights of minorities and allow peaceful coexistence of all irrespective of religious affiliation.
