At Barrington Middle School every Friday students are forced to use a program called Achieve 3000. Achieve does not work well at all and most students would prefer it gone. Many teachers at Barrington also do not like Achieve as it barely helps with learning and so much more could be done by doing a normal lesson in the classroom. Instead of having students engaged in learning and happy for the end of the week, they dread whatever period they have to use it in. Hillsborough County spent 3.7 million dollars on a broken system. As a student i can say for all other students that I dread my favorite period on Friday simply because of Achieve. Achieve questions are unnecessarily difficult and it counts for too much of our grade. a student with a 100 was recently dropped down to a D according to my Language Arts teacher, the articles don't give enough information making the questions hard to answer constantly bring down good students scores. Achieve had no good articles to help learners, everything is outdated and extremely boring. There is even an article written about its danger to mental health.
