Prevention is always better than the cure and we should always be proactive, rather than reactive.
If the problem is that education is underfunded, then we need to go to the root cause of the problem... WSCC.
We should have used our parent people power to force the LEA to do more and take ownership of the problem. If that didn’t work we should have gone to government.
Instead, the school appear to have taken the temporary fix, which in my experience always ends up costing more money, wasting time, and inevitably ripping out and putting the right job back in further down the line.
We are now in the situation where we have bought in outside contractors to oversee things and that costs money. The academy do not get extra funding as we have been led to believe, as they are still only entitled to what WSCC have been paying SGS.
On top of that we have to now pay Bohunt’s fee’s, so how does that equate to more money.
The iPad issue, whilst separate from the academisation, is still part of the same problem, underfunding; but again instead of going to the root cause of the problem, we are now being forced to pay a huge some of money to plug the leak.
The problem again is that this is only a temporary repair, and will require constant finacial injection to sustain it.
Once we open these doors there is no going back and all we will end up doing is plugging holes financially.
In my opinion we should have gone to the source and fixed the problem for good, by getting the right job from the start.
We still have time to make a difference, but we need more parents to make a stand, as the few cannot row for the many.
We have been labelled ‘a small minority’, but I know that is not true, because so many people keep coming forward to express their concerns...
But you need to do something about it!
