The school governors had a meeting last week regarding the academisation of SGS, and we are expecting a letter to go out to parents tomorrow Monday 02/11/2020.

We are eagerly awaiting the outcome of that meeting and would be interested to know what parents reactions are.

The date on the government website for the transfer to Bohunt, is the 30/11/2020 and obviously we cannot hold a full parent/teacher/governors/WSCC consultation during the current climate, so it makes sense to wait until we can get everyone in the same room and listen to all sides, before making a decision.

Reading through the governors minutes there are a few things that spring to mind.

Firstly, there is one main mention of WSCC not being co-operative, but when I showed that to WSCC, they said that it was just governor opinion and some of it was even factually incorrect.

The only way we will ever get to the bottom of what is going on, is to listen to both sides.

I am a firm believer that the grass is never greener on the other side. Surely if we can get WSCC to fully support the school, that has to be the best outcome for all.

Secondly, it sounds like maybe it’s the bridging loan that is causing the problem. SGS need the money to convert the towers, but don’t have the money until the sale of Church Street goes through.

In fairness it does sound like WSCC are a pain to deal with, after all they are when I call up, so why would they be different for the school.

However, that doesn't mean the governors should just give up and and go for the easy option. After all, better the devil you know, rather than tying into an unknown gamble for 125 years, and if we can get WSCC to agree to a bridging loan then we no longer need Bohunt, as I’m sure they won’t be lending the money out of the goodness of their hearts.

Finally, If the governors have run out of fight, then it's time for them to step aside and let fresh blood in.
