As we go into our second lockdown, I was just reflecting on the strength of the people supporting our campaign against the academisation of SGS.
Everyone who has supported this, no matter how small, has taken time out from the current chaos we are all faced with everyday. It’s easy to be preoccupied with our own struggles right now, because Covid has increased the intensity by a factor of 10, but the fact that some people have still found time to invest into getting answers is inspirational too me.
I know some of you think that I’m behind all of this, but the reality is that there are stronger people then me, finding the time in their hectic lives to try and do what’s right for all the children, the parents, and SGS.
The truth is that no one needs this extra stress in their lives right now, which makes me question why anyone would push this academisation through regardless of Covid. People are struggling mentally, physically, emotionally and financially right now, and we have been since February. It’s exhausting, and yet this is still being pushed through full steam ahead.
Why are the governors not being compassionate in this time of crisis? Why does this decision feel like a faceless corporate expansion, with no thought to the people it affects?
This could easily have waited a year, but the governors pushed on while we were all looking the other way.
Looking after friends, family and loved ones.
Whether you are pro academy, or not, surely this whole process has been immoral and unethical and we need to question the motives?
We now know that the school gets no extra funding, so why tell us that?
We now know that according to WSCC, SGS have received all monies due, so why tell us they haven’t.
We also now know that Bohunt charge SGS a fee to be administered by them, which in fact means SGS get less money.
So many questions...
Anyway, back to my original reflection.
Thank you to all the people who have inspired me to keep going, and to everyone in our WhatsApp group. It’s at times like these you find the best that humanity has to offer, and there really are some amazing people out there.
And to everyone, I hope that you and your families are safe and well. I’m not a particularly religious person, I believe the universe has a plan of sorts, but I’ll say a prayer for every one of you and hope we come out the other side of this lock down stronger.
Take care everyone
