To date, over 18,800 people worldwide have signed a petition launched on change.org entitled save this baby elephant from daily torture and abuse.

the-government-of-thailand-save-this-baby-elephant-from-daily-torture-and-abuse?recruiter=25874220&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink

The petition asks the authorities in Thailand to remove an obviously abused and suffering  baby elephant named Gluay Hom from a so-called tourist entertainment venue called the Samut Prakan Crocodlie Farm and Zoo, get him the medical attention he so obviously needs and  transfer him to a sanctuary. The address of the Samut Prakan venue is 10280, 555 Thanon Thai Ban, Pak Nam, Amphoe Mueang Samut Prakan, Chang Wat Samut Prakan 10270, Thailand.

That local authorities are allowing the baby elephant to remain in the hands of his abusers is as shocking as the original abuse – as the comments below from people all around the world in languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Polish, Spanish and Thai attest. People are calling for a boycott of tourist travel to Thailand while this and other elephant-related atrocities are allowed to continue without punishment or consequence, and this idea is being shared and circulated worldwide.

These comments, including the ones below will be shared in a press release to international media along with the heartbreaking images of the suffering baby elephant.

We respectfully request the Thai authorities cooperate with animal welfare organizations to relocate Baby Gluay Hom to a sanctuary for elephants and are willing to support their efforts in any way we can, including fundraising.

18,000+ people worldwide are watching and waiting for good news from Thailand – please hear their voices and do not disappoint them.

Respectfully,

Ave Lawyer

Thailand welcomes and relies on tourism. animal and human rights are key to continuing tourism and economic benefits for Thailand and Thai people so please address this issue.

This is totally unacceptable and shameful of the Thai government to allow this to continue!!! Send these babies to a sanctuary where they can live in freedom, peace and health! The world is different than in the past. Most humans worldwide want animal abuse and torture stopped now and forever! Stop going to this zoo that allow this torture! Thai Royal family please put an end to this torture & the shame it brings!

We tourist will surely go to better places for holidays rather than having depressing holidays in your COUNTRY...Stop this torture you can the pain in this poor elephants eyes Thailand you must stop this

And do you think the Buddah would be happy with your treatment of these poor animals? I don't think so_where is your compassion and humanity-

This is ignorant uneducated cruelty. I will not holiday in Thailand until you treat animals better.

Boycott all holiday destinations that treat animals in this way.

Trained elephants are captive elephants-is this how you treat your national symbol??slavery & abuse??? SHAMEFUL ACTS THAILAND. UTTER DISGRACE.

The country has much to offer tourists, torturing animals is not one of those things. Please stop now.

I've signed this petition because the Thai Government seriously needs to create laws to protect innocent animals from terrible suffering. It is shameful and disgusting to see this happening in the 21st century. It would appear that some countries in our world are still living in The Dark Ages,

You are just one of the worst sick country and people l have ever known. I won a ticket to visit your country, turned it down... Can't you see this baby needs help or are all of you with a heart?

Thailand...WE SEE YOU. I’m so damn sick of seeing endless stories coming from your country of how you abuse and mistreat your animals. My God, the horror that elephants have to go through in order to allow tourists to ride them - putting them through Phajaan, or “The Crush,” just so they can then be cruelly exploited by their mahouts for decades. I’m spreading the word about how you treat elephants. Not just on social media, but in person, too. Do something about this elephant’s suffering. Start to show the world that you’re not such a backwards, vile, savage country. I will never step one damn foot in your country as a tourist until I hear sweeping changes have been made regarding animal welfare. DO SOMETHING.

Poor Dumbo recently died at the awful Phuket Zoo and now we hear of yet another baby elephant being cruelly abused. Shame on Thailand for permitting elephant (& any animals) to be held captive and exploited in such a cruel way.

I am only one voice, but many will be heard.

For heavens sake stop this torture.
The Thais are supposedly a gentle civilized people, look after the little baby.
Its what The Buddha would have liked

I am totally in bewilderment of how governments can continue to choose monetary policy and greed over the compassion of nature for it's animals. In many places, animals can provide an economic uplift, but not at supreme neglect and abuse. The PATHETIC ignorance of the uneducated population of several of these very same nations is just as confounding. Yet to those in power and authority, has it just become so complacent to ignore the plight of these creatures because it not your problem? Let the world speak. IT IS YOUR PROBLEM, IT IS ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS. If we can not care for the simplest of creatures, then how can we care for ourselves? By enacting laws of protection and standard, and ENFORCEMENT, not only are you saving these creatures, you are saving yourselves and your cultures , but most of all, your humanity.

This must be stopped. I will not visit your country until you treat animals with love and respect.

This Zoo needs closing down as it is obviously not adhering to even minimal animal welfare standards. All the animals here are suffering in terribly inadequate conditions. It is an emergency situation for Gluay Hom as he is very young and obviously suffering immensely, he is showing obvious signs of distress, unacceptable, he needs to be fully assessed by an appropriate independent veterinarian and then taken to a safe place, a reputable sanctuary is the only place acceptable, for care for the rest of his life.

Cruelty on elephants in Thailand is the worst because elephants help humans there Cruelty on elephants in Thailand is the worst because elephants help humans there.

this situation is wrong. i blame the authorities. they should have already seized the elephant and moved home to a sanctuary. LOOK AT THIS ELEPHANTS CONDITION!!!!!

Stop it now this is cruel there is no need . Holiday makers are not going to fill your pockets anymore !

These animals are used to make money by carrying tourists to places of interest in Thailand. Babies like this one are tied to their mothers with a rope and yanked along after them, often ending in the little things being dragged along behind them. This has to stop.

The world is watching!

Truly disgusting to think anybody would allow a poor little elephant to suffer abuse like this. SHAME ON THAILAND!!!!!
