Leicester Students Against Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) Cuts

The Issue

On Monday 7 April 2014, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills announced changes to the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) in England.  The announced changes will jeopardise disabled students’ access and success in higher education. The loss of funding for specialist IT equipment and non-medical help, combined with a restrictive redefinition of disability, threaten to make university a non-viable option for many disabled students who already face important financial difficulties.
