Our class is called Oak and we are a Key Stage 2 Class in Cheshire. In the past, our families have used products that contained palm oil from non-sustainable sources. Oh how wrong we were! Save the rain-forest! While we are fans of many supermarkets we have found an ongoing problem with most of their products: almost all of them contain non-sustainable palm oil! This has to stop! WE NEED TO CREATE A LAW TO FORCE COMPANIES TO USE SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL.

Palm oil is a product that is used in many foods and popular products. It is the highest yielding vegetable oil crop and many people receive a living through the cultivation of this crop. However, the effects from producing palm oil are devastating for the environment including the diverse habitats of South East Asia especially Borneo. Virgin rain-forest is being chopped down at an alarming rate to make way for palm oil plantations even though it can be produced in a sustaibable way. We must do something to put an end to this evil practice!

WE NEED TO CREATE A LAW TO FORCE COMPANIES TO USE SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL. If we don't legislate for this change, if we don't adhere to the RSPO (Round-table on Sustainable Palm Oil) then the rain-forest will continue to be cut down.

An estimated 50,000 orangutans have already died as a result of these horrible practices. WE NEED TO CREATE A LAW TO FORCE COMPANIES TO USE SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL.
