As 400 level engineering students it's expected that we are off campus during the second semester because of our SIWES ( students industrial work experience scheme) program which is for 6 months.

We started this petition because the school expects us to pay the full school fees for just one semester of school which is really outrageous. I can't imagine a parent paying 1.6 - 1.8 million naira for just one semester and there are still other costs that have to be covered by the parents like, books, monthly allowance and transportation fees during the period of the 6 months SIWES program (often between the range of 20,000- 30,000 naira per month or more depending on the location of appointment).

That aside, it hasn't been easy for parents due to the Covid19 and asking for such an amount, sigh... 

We've written several letters to the members of the school board but we are yet to receive a response. Seeing as the university will be resuming soon, we've decided to make a more direct approach in order to get a quicker response. As things are right now, so many 400 level engineering students won't be able to return to school because of the amount the school is asking of, so we ask that the board review the school fees and if possible cut it by half since we'll be present for only one semester
