Last week we published another newsletter via the View from the Allotment End fanzine twitter account. Below are some updated highlights as we come to key stages in our campaign.
But first, some great success on the pitch
In the last few weeks we won away at Grantham Town. It was a great team performance and a well-deserved victory. It certainly feels good to report this and we hope that, overall, the squad can build on this. Last weekend we had a narrow defeat against Lancaster where a draw would have been a fair result.
A great attendance for our Farsley Celtic campaign game
We were really pleased with the 321 attendance for our Save North Ferriby game a few weeks ago. Let’s not, however, mention the result of the match ;). Thank you to all those who came down. Once again, fans have shown that a positive campaign, that showcases what is great about our club and non-league football, can encourage people to come down. In advance we conducted our survey outside the ground to gauge fans' views on the proposals. .
Submissions to the FA and the Northern Premier League
We are really pleased to confirm the headline result of the fanbase survey —98.5% want the club to remain named North Ferriby United, 98.1% do not want to move to Dunswell, and 92.6% will not watch North Ferriby United (or East Hull FC) at Dunswell Park. Fans’ amazing comments have been included in the evidence base we have developed. With this support we think we have covered all the assessment criteria and can provide a robust response. This survey supplements this petition which currently stands at an amazing 9,714 signatures. Thank you again! We'd so love to reach 10,000. Our evidence for the relocation application was submitted last week to the Northern Premier League via Supporters’ Direct (Thank you Nicola Cave at SD and Andy Walsh at the FSF). We are just finalising the document for the FA on the name change application. This will be submitted early next week via SD. In addition, the NFU Supporters’ Club collected the views of members and has submitted responses too.
Success engaging stakeholders
We had a really busy few weeks engaging stakeholders. We attended meetings of both East Riding of Yorkshire Council and North Ferriby Parish Council. It was great to meet councillors who were very keen to support our campaign. We are pleased to confirm that both have written letters of support. We’ve also received confirmation that the Rt.Hon. David Davis MP has written to the FA and NPL in support too. We have, therefore, secured support at all political levels.
In the news
We’ve been in the news again. The Hull Daily Mail have published a few further reports including our campaign game against Farsley Celtic and they reported on our attendance at the East Riding council meeting. They also published a very supportive letter from Hall Road Rangers, who are based only a couple of miles from Dunswell. I was really pleased to talk to Ray Stubbs for his show on TalkSPORT2. He fondly remembered his BBC Radio Humberside days and was very supportive (sadly not available on demand). Finally, we were really excited when Caroline Barker referenced our campaign in one of her answers on the BBC’s Fighting Talk show (28mins). As she emphasised, “North Ferriby’s important”. We agree, Caroline :)
…..and finally.
We have loved hearing fond memories of Ferriby. Fans have dug out promotional DVDs, photos, sportsmans dinner programmes etc. The photo used here is one of many great pics shared by Mally Kidd (Thank you!). I think this one is from about 1990 when we adopted the historic crest. Thank you for all your support - M
