Hello
Thank you again for all your support. Here are a few updates from the campaign to Save North Ferriby United. The photo is of the North Ferriby United team from 1934 in their inaugural season affiliated to the East Riding Church League. See also this Twitter thread.
Change.org petition - Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who signed our petition. In just one week we reached the amazing total of 8,000 supporters! This helped raise the profile of our campaign and will provide crucial evidence to the FA consultation; confirming Ferriby’s strong standing in the game. Special thanks go to all those who, “chipped in”. This helped increase our reach and ensured we reached this amazing total. I have read all the lovely comments from fans across the country. These will be summarised in the submission. We will continue to post updates to the petition and give it a couple of further pushes.
Survey of the Ferriby fanbase
Last Friday we launched our survey of the local Ferriby fanbase. To complement our petition we are seeking the specific views of the those most affected by the proposals (i.e. fans to come to game, sponsors, NFU Youth coaches and parents, players, residents etc.). This will be used as further evidence to inform stakeholder responses. Fans and stakeholders can access the Survey Monkey survey here. It is critically important that the local fanbase respond to this. The deadline for responses is the 22nd November so we can analyse responses in time.
Raising funds for the campaign…...and something smart to wear!
The excellent NFU Supporters’ Club has produced an amazing set of four Save North Ferriby badges. We are proud to adopt one of these as our campaign logo. The badges are £1.60 each or £5 for the full set (inc. P&P). Ordering information is here or by e-mailing northferribysc@gmail.com. All profits will support costs associated to the campaign (i.e. printing etc.). Mark Leighton, via Minster Village, has produced a badge for every Ferriby match this season. We think these new ones are the most important addition to the collection. Please wear yours with pride! We’d love to see pictures via social media of you wearing yours. Please tag us on Twitter at @VFTAE.
Please “Get down to Grange Lane” - 17th November 2018
We are encouraging all those who support our cause to please come along to cheer the Villagers on at our home fixture against Farsley Celtic. Please show your support for the team and our campaign. We will undertake some local promotion in North Ferriby and neighbouring villages in advance. An additional fixture has been slotted in and we will also play Nantwich Town at home on the 10th November. Please do come down to this game too in you are free. We will be outside the ground on both the 10th and 17th to survey fans on the applications. Please come over and say hello.
In the news
We are very grateful to all print and broadcast media who have reported our current plight. The ever-excellent Hull Kingston Radio held a special Ferriby Fans Forum on the subject with Ferriby fans. The Hull Daily Mail interviewed our former Chairman, Les Hare who commented that the proposals represented, “identity theft” (we whole-heartily concur, Les). Ferriby fans were also on Hull Kingston Radio’s Talking Balls show. KCFM played out a brief interview as part of their news bulletins. Finally, I was on BBC Radio Humberside’s Sports Talk (from 48 mins in) and Ferriby owner, Carl Chadwick, was interviewed for the same item.
We want to hear from you
I think there is great opportunity to strengthen our club through all this turmoil. A key part of this, for me, is better understanding our club’s heritage and our connection to the community. We have started posting some old photos and Hull Daily Mail clippings through the View From The Allotment End Twitter profile. If you have any memories, copies of old programmes, or pictures of Ferriby through the ages then we would love to hear from you via SaveNorthFerriby@gmail.com
Thank you again for your continued support and Up the Villagers!!
