"A club's home is its heart"
We are so humbled and overwhelmed by the level of support for our petition in just two day! Breaking 5,000 is amazing! Thank you to you all. The quote above seems to summarise many comments made. It's great to see such wonderful support from across the UK. I noted lovely comments from fans of, for example, Hull City, Chorley, FCUM, Guiseley, Bromley, and Torquay. There was even a few from Wrexham fans (big thank you!). I'm especially pleased to see former Ferriby players, committee members, officials and their family members adding their support. Sorry, I have not read all your comments yet.
Yesterday, our local Hull Daily Mail published an interview with the owner. In this he confirms the plans to relocate the club and change its name but notes that he will not make a decision until the end of the season. Our campaign is aimed at ensuring the Football Association and Evo-stik League reject both proposals outright as soon as possible.
It is disappointing that the owner fails to mention that fans worked with the club to boost attendances on the recent Non-League Day (13th October). We welcomed 360 football fans (mainly local); more than the 300 that the owner estimates is the break-even to ensure the club's viability at its current ground. We would welcome the opportunity to work with him to continue to promote the club positively and scrap proposals to relocate and rename the club. I also consider that his continued negativity and hostility towards North Ferriby village is a pre-determined effort to justify the move. It is the same approach that Jamie Waltham took when he owned the club.
In contrast, and on a far more positive note, our friends Daniel and Tom, aka "Two Men in Search of the Beautiful Game", yesterday posted a video of their recent trip to North Ferriby United on Non-League Day. This showcases what a great community club we have in the village and why it's worth saving. [Darren (Editor of VFTAE) is interviewed and I am selling the Golden Goal tickets]. Please do check out Daniel and Tom's amazing work. They do such a great job to promote the lower leagues which are the heart and soul of our national game.
Finally, if you are in the locality, please do come down to North Ferriby and say hello. Our next home game is the 17th November vs Farsley Celtic. You will receive a warm welcome!
And, of course, we would welcome any further support to help promote this campaign
Thank you
Matthew, Darren and View from the Allotment End
