Officially Recognize Martin Luther King Day in Canada.

Officially Recognize Martin Luther King Day in Canada.
The Issue
Many citizens of African descent, and members of all other races living in our great, multi-cultural nation, recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a hero.
Most Canadians celebrate quietly, along side our neighbours in the United States of America, and acknowledge that our beautiful country does not recognize Martin Luther King Day. We have parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who live in the USA. We have ancestors who crossed into the freedom of Canada, via the Underground Railroad. And we, as Canadian citizens, must shamefully tell our loved ones to the south that our country does not recognize the achievements of this great man. Martin Luther King Jr. worked hard to achieve his dream. He gave his life for it. Not just for Blacks in the United States but for the civil rights of all mankind, around the World.
Please sign this petition so that Canadians can share in the celebrations, with pride, in honour of the achievements of one of the most important icons of social justice the World has ever known. Together, we can show the World that Canada truly is a great nation. One that respects the history, cultures and beliefs of all its citizens.
Thank You
