Return the Inishmurray Relics to Ireland

Return the Inishmurray Relics to Ireland

The Issue

The ninth or tenth century crozier and bell of St. Molaise were stolen from the Island of Inishmurray in the 1840s and subsequently sold to Algernon Percy, 4th Duke of Northumberland for display in Alnwick Castle. These two important remnants of pre-Norman Ireland should be reunited with the wooden statue of the saint now in the National Museum of Ireland. For centuries these three items were together on the altar of the St. Molaise's chapel on the now-deserted island. We are asking the current owner of the bell and crozier, Ralph George Algernon Percy, 12th Duke of Northumberland, to please return the Inishmurray relics to Ireland. More info here: http://www.voicesfromthedawn.com/bring-home-the-inishmurray-relics/
