Last year, the District ranked among the highest in the nation for teenagers purchasing their own liquor. While only about 13 percent of high school students surveyed admitted to buying their liquor from a licensed vendor, 60 percent of the youth surveyed admitted to having one or more drinks in their lifetime. This tells us that our teenagers are resourceful and are finding other ways to purchase alcohol.

This a problem that affects all of us and we can make a difference by:

Refusing to purchase or provide alcohol for a minor

If you have alcohol in the home, ensure alcohol is secured in a place where a minor cannot get to it

If you are aware of a store in the District of Columbia selling alcohol to a minor report it to the Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administrative (ABRA) at (202)442-4423. ALL CALLS ARE ANONYMOUS
