The City of The Dalles is a well-rounded, family-oriented place to live. We have a great start with our current department and grocery stores. What we don’t have is a good variety to purchase the things we all need in our homes for our families. Our clothing market is scarce and our home goods are only coming from a select few companies.

In our beautiful yet conservative little town of The Dalles, we do have some great stores. Fred Meyers has become my go-to for kitchen ware, but even here our options are limited. Our hardware stores also offer some home goods but, once again, tends to be very limited. We have only one store dedicated to our fashion needs and yet again find ourselves limited. We as a town, I believe, are very centered around our working families. That being our Farms, Orchards and Ranches. And while our hardware stores, Like Coastal, have great selection of work clothes, I think that being able to have more options to expand not only our closets to be more versatile, but also to give us a bigger selection of home goods, appliances, toys and furniture for our little ones, and even some great interior design for those looking to be more creative.

This is why I believe our city could greatly benefit from having a Target department store. We need more options. Our fashion choices are very limited, we have only a select few places to get our home goods and decor items. I believe that every community can benefit from variety. Another unquestionably amazing benefit to bringing in a new business will of course be the job opportunities it will generate. Let’s give our people more options for the items we all need in our homes.
