The number of infants who have died because of crib bumpers has tripled, according to the most recent research. This popular bedding item can lead to strangulation or suffocation. Currently, there are no federal regulations restricting the sale of bumpers, even though the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Institute of Health, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention all recommend against them. 

Every baby should have a safe sleeping environment. We want to prevent as many infant deaths as we possibly can, so we are asking that the Consumer Product Safety Commission ban these products.
