Saint Rose students have recently learned that academic institutions (such as The University of Texas at Austin) which utilize Canvas as their course management software have the opportunity to enable a function that allows students to select and display their preferred pronouns. The addition of this function will create a more inclusive learning environment where students may not feel the pressure of requesting certain pronouns to be used, especially in classes where professors are not accustomed to asking for them.

We signees would like The College to consider finding out how we can add this function to our Canvas platform. Preferred pronouns are not truly preferred, they are mandatory for your students and our friends.
