The City of Subiaco recently rejected an application for a Change of Use at Home Base to make way for Growers Lane - a Boatshed-style concept that includes fresh fruit and vegetables, a butcher, fish supplier, delicatessen, bakery, juice bar and dry goods. The store is the brainchild of the Tran family who operated TR & TR Fruit & Veg (Tran Veggies) at the Station Street Markets for almost 12 years.

One of the driving reasons behind the decision was that Council feared the concept would further drive business away from the town centre and Rokeby Road.

Councillors voted against the recommendation to approve this application by the City's own planning team.

The Growers Lane at Home Base site would be just hundreds of metres from where the Station Street Markets once stood and would provide Subiaco and surrounding residents with a fantastic service that is not currently offered in Subiaco.
