For as long as I remember when entering the City of Sierra Vista you are welcomed with a bulletin board of all the clubs and organizations of the city. When looking closer you will notice that The Sons of Confederate Veterans has a sign distinguishing the presences of a racially driven culture and community. Given this is a military town where people of all backgrounds come to work and train it is advised that the city remove the said sign. During these trying times it has become more and more important to welcome all peoples and for them to feel safe in their community. With having this sign it creates uncertainty and lack of education to the public on why such symbols can no longer be tolerated because of the pain that it brings. Sign this petition to help create a safer more understanding community for all people of all backgrounds and most importantly the Black Americans that call this city their home or temporary home.
