I never thought I'd see the day....
The fight has come to us. The Freedom From Religion Foundation has threatened a legal suit against the city of Sandpoint if we don't remove the Ten Commandments Monolith in Farmin Park. Despite the fact that there has been no major local outcry for such action and the monolith has been there since the the 1970's. We cannot let this happen, not here in our own backyard.

In a similar situation in Texas regarding a six-foot-tall monument of the Ten Commandments on the Texas Capitol grounds, the Supreme Court ruled that it did not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment because of its cultural and historic value. Cases like this abound across the country proving that the Ten Commandments at Farmin Park need to stay.

To remove the Ten Commandments shows not only a lack of understanding of the Constitution but a blatant disregard for the First Amendment.

We cannot let ourselves be bullied by an anti-Constitutional, anti-freedom interest group. Stand with the citizens of Sandpoint and the local surrounding residents in supporting the display of the Ten Commandments in Farmin Park.
