Approve Bluebird Salon's New Facade

Bluebird wants to improve the look of 742 Marsh St. and contribute to the surrounding downtown community by taking a very plain building and adding a beautiful reclaimed wood cladding.
We began to create the look that is pictured here, but our work has been stopped because the Cultural Heritage Committee needs to approve it. The City's fees are a little more than $1000 to apply, and we are told that it is unlikely the application will be approved. We simply cannot afford to pay $1000, let alone pay that large amount to be told 'no.'
Bluebird's whole budget for the siding was a little over $1000. Bluebird's owner, Ariel, got the reclaimed wood from an old fence that was torn down and had the wood milled by a local mill for trade. Friends helped remove nails from these boards for 6 hours on a Sunday and other friends donated their time to begin to install it. This is a sustainable, economical, and community based effort to create something really beautiful!
If you think what we are creating is beautiful and contributes in a very positive way to the look and feel of downtown, please show your support by signing our petition!
