Support a Farmers Market in North Beach

Support a Farmers Market in North Beach

The Issue

Please join North Beach Neighbors and The Agricultural Institute of Marin in signing a petition to bring a Farmers Market to North Beach.

We're very close! Your support and signature will go a long way to showing the incredible demand for a new market in the neighborhood and helping us obtain needed city permits. Our current plans are for a weekly Saturday market of 50 vendors - mostly fresh produce, some lightly prepared foods, and a few artisans. The market will be held on Green Street, between Columbus Avenue and Grant Street.

Why a Farmers Market in North Beach?

1. There is Great Support from the Neighborhood

In a survey conducted by North Beach Neighbors, 225 of 229 respondents - a staggering 98% - said they thought a Farmers Market would improve the North Beach neighborhood.

2. There is Great Support from the Farmers

For the allotted 50 spots at the potential market, there have already been 150+ applications through the Agricultural Institute of Marin.

3. It's Backed By a Proven Organization

The Agricultural Institute of Marin currently manages 7 markets in the Bay Area, including Clement Street. They represent over 500 different family farmers, local purveyors, and artisans. Officially founded in 2004, the organization has roots as far back as 1983 through their first market in Marin. Learn more

4. Farmers Markets Improve Existing Businesses

We're excited not only about the impact of the market for new vendors and neighbors, but also as a way to bring new traffic for existing businesses.

One survey discovered that 60% of market shoppers also visited nearby stores on the same day; of those, 60% said that they visited those additional stores only on days that they visit the market.
