Solving The Stormwater Runoff Problem Through Rain Gardens

The Issue

As you know, Orcas are vital to the health of the Puget Sound. They keep the Sound healthy and thriving. However, over 205 foreign materials are being brought into the Sound due to them going in storm drains. This poisons many different animals, from tiny plankton all the way to the orcas. However, rain gardens can absorb these materials and it won’t go into the sound. With your help, we will ask for permission to build rain gardens along roads, and the materials won’t go into the Sound.

My Plan:

Currently, I’m working on researching for a city grant. I want to get funding for supplies to build some around cities (which is where a lot of the stormwater is created). This would both save the orcas/other species AND it would add a more natural look to cities. My goal is to build around 10 rain gardens before summer ends. I am also working on creating informational websites for elaborating on my plan, teaching you and others on how to make a rain garden at home, and teaching people about how rain gardens work.

Extra Note:

Thank you to all of my promoters! You have helped me so much!
