Chengalpattu Medical College is probably the only medical institution in Tamil nadu, so close to the state capital Chennai, yet harbors abundant but untapped vast expanses of land. Beautifully nestled amidst a scenic backdrop of lush green trees and hillocks, it is also readily accessible by the national highway NH-45.  Although steady progress has been made to the continued development and upkeep of the college since its inception, the potential scope of its expandability is highly underutilized.  This could undoubtedly serve as the cradle for a combined central and state government-funded project as ambitious as an AIIMS-like institution.
