Enniscorthy against The Abbey Square monument.

Enniscorthy against The Abbey Square monument.
The Issue
The council has proposed erecting a 16m high flagpole and 5mx2m tri colour in the Abbey square to honour 1916 and the 7th March 1848, the day the tri colour first flew in Ireland.
While the sentiment is is proper and correct, and in principle it should be done, the modern art style sculpture and the imposing nature of the base are wholly inappropriate for the area.
I am asking all Enniscorthy residents, businesses, and anyone who visits the town on a regular basis, who would prefer to see a more traditional style monument and flagpole erected, to sign this petition, to be presented to The Chairperson and District Manager of Enniscorthy Municipal District.
