Stop Enbridge's Line 3!

Stop Enbridge's Line 3!
The Issue
!! SIGN THE PETITION TO PRESSURE THE MINNESOTA SENATORS TO STOP LINE 3!!
As you know we are in midst of a climate and ecological crisis which has direct ties to human actions including the burning of fossil fuels. And while global temperatures are rising and wildfires are getting significantly worse, Enbridge (A Canadian Oil Company) has constructed an expansion to Pipeline 3. This expansion, that started pumping tar sands oil in early October, will carry nearly a million barrels per day of the dirtiest oil on Earth. Line 3 is over 1,000 miles long and starts in Alberta, Canada and ends in Superior, Wisconsin. It goes through 226 waterways, including the Mississippi River, twice.
Line 3 will disproportionally affect Native Americans, for it breaks several Native American Treaties, cuts through the heart of Ojibwe treaty territory, and disrupts Indigenous sovereignty. This pipeline will inevitably spill, which in turn will contaminate sacred water sources. Line 3 must be stopped.
It is not a matter of if it will contaminate important waterways, it is when. According to MN350.org, “Enbridge’s Line 3 poses a significant risk of the health of Minnesota’s local environment and communities.” Enbridge is responsible for the largest-in-land oil spill in American history which was in March of 1991 when the existing pipeline 3 ruptured in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, spilling 1.7 million gallons of crude oil onto the frozen Prairie River.
Here is what StopLine3.org said about the pipeline and Enbridge:
“The existing Line 3 is an Enbridge pipeline that ships crude oil from Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin. It spans northern Minnesota, crossing the Leech Lake and Fond du Lac reservations and the l855, 1854, and l842 treaty areas … It was built with defective steel in l96l, has had numerous ruptures and spills, and is running at half pressure because of severe corrosion. Instead of cleaning up this liability, Enbridge wants to simply abandon it in the ground forever, and cut a brand new energy corridor through our best lakes, wetlands, and wild rice beds, and the heart of Ojibwe treaty territory. They first proposed this new route for the Sandpiper pipeline in 2013, but years of fierce resistance in Minnesota drove them to cancel that project and buy a share of the Dakota Access pipeline instead.
At $7.5 billion, the proposed new Line 3 would be the largest project in Enbridge’s history and one of the largest crude oil pipelines in the world, carrying up to 915,000 barrels per day of one of the dirtiest fuel on earth, tar sands crude. They call it a "replacement" but it is larger, with higher volume, in a new corridor. First Nations, tribal governments, landowners, environmental groups, and communities across the Great Lakes have been fighting for 5 years now to stop this new corridor and #StopLine3. We are here to protect the water and our future generations.”
What we are trying to do is pressure Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith into using their powerful ability to stop the pipeline. Please sign this petition and share it with others! We can only do this with help from people like you!
