Thanks Apple, now please make all products EPEAT certified

The Issue

Apple Inc. touts their adherence to EPEAT's green technology standards on their website for their computers. The company has 39 different products that have met EPEAT guidelines. However, Apple's iPhone, iPad and new MacBook Pro with retina display do not meet the requirements that computers be easy to disassemble.  Apple has rejoined EPEAT, which is a major victory, but there is more we can do.  Namely, we can push for an entirely EPEAT certified product line.

EPEAT standards led Apple to eliminate arsenic and mercury, both toxic, from its displays.  It also encouraged the company to eliminate brominated flame retardants (BFT), which can have negative effects on human reproductive systems and thyroids, and polyvinyl chloride (PCV), which can release carcinogins and edocrine disrupters if burned.  Further innovation by Apple's famous enginerring team could carry such innovations into all the company's products.

I want Apple to keep meeting EPEAT standards, and get the rest of their products EPEAT certified. Really, I want their products to be as environmentally-friendly as possible. Help me tell Apple that we are glad they have rejoined EPEAT and hope to see further commitment to green computing from the company as they move forward.
