Thank the Heroes in Blue Helmets: UN Peacekeepers

The Issue

There are currently more than 125,000 UN Peacekeepers serving in some of the world’s most unstable regions. With escalating violations of human rights in places like South Sudan, and the threat of genocide in the Central African Republic, UN Peacekeepers are working to bring peace and stability to some of the world’s most challenging conflicts.

Peacekeepers are fighting to give children a chance at preserving their innocence, rather than becoming child soldiers. They’re fighting to give girls and women the ability to live without fear. They’re fighting to give entire communities a chance at stability and safety. UN Peacekeepers are fighting for freedoms – freedoms that we, as Americans, are incredibly fortunate to have here at home.

Please join us in giving the heroes in UN blue the praise and recognition that they deserve. By signing this petition today, you will show your support to real UN Peacekeepers and show the world that Americans like you are grateful for their service.

United Nations FoundationPetition StarterI’m a Client Manager at Change.org, helping nonprofits find and connect with new supporters. Before coming to Change.org, I worked as a Strategist at Big Duck, which is a communications firm that works exclusively with nonprofits. Prior to that, I ran the Digital Engagement Department at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). I graduated from Fordham University and while I’ve lived in New York for over a decade now, I grew up all over the world as an Army brat. When I’m not geeking out over online engagement and social media for nonprofits, I am either taking a yoga class, cooking up something exotic, or running the Central Park loop.
