Until recently, U.S. automaker Dodge was running a television commercial featuring a few seconds of footage of a chimpanzee. While the footage itself was innocent, what happens to ape actors when they retire rarely is. Most are doomed to decades spent in sleazy roadside zoos, or in research facilities.

When presented with these facts, Dodge showed remarkable candor and acted quickly to change the ad.
