We, the undersigned petition Thanet District Council to create a controlled residents' parking zone (with permits, not meters) between Victoria Parade and Bellevue Road (from Augusta Rd to Brockenhurst Rd) in Ramsgate.

Roads covered by the proposed scheme: Augusta Road and Place, D’Este Road, Victoria Road (up to Bellevue), Albion Road, Albert Road, Thanet Road (up to Bellevue), Penshurst Road, Queens Road, Lyndhurst Road, Brockenhurst Road, Truro Road, Bellevue Road (from Augusta Road).

We are a group of local residents who want to make our narrow roads safer and more pleasant for everyone. Controlled parking zones (with permits, not meters) have been successful in other parts of Ramsgate, and can work here too.

Like many of our friends and neighbours in the area, we think a controlled parking zone that gives residents priority in our increasingly busy roads would make it easier to park closer to our homes and would also:

• stop dangerous parking on pavements and corners
• reduce traffic flow and cars circling around looking for a spot
• deter people from using our streets as a free 24-hour car park
• cut down on the litter left in our gutters

We would like a residents’ parking scheme on the narrow residential streets between Victoria Parade and Bellevue Road (from Augusta Road along to Brockenhurst Road), and we invite you to add you name to this petition to show your support.
