Thames Water: Fix our Drainage, Stop dumping Sewage

Thames Water: Fix our Drainage, Stop dumping Sewage

The Issue

Flooding has impacted the lives of residents across West Oxfordshire increasingly over recent years.

There are now semi-permanent lakes in Aston, Standlake, Eynsham, Stanton Harcourt and many other villages in the area. These areas need improvement to Infrastructure, Thames waters response is to monitor the pipes, this is not good enough and would mean another 5 years of flooding high streets and homes.

We call upon Parish, District, County Council and EA to enforce action, and for Thames Water to resolve these issues. Responsibility for the flooding and sewage overflow sits between these agencies, we need collaboration and resolution.

Two-fold we call on Thames water to stop abusing our rivers. It is a medieval practice to regularly dump sewage in rivers with winters and summers average rainfall increasing in recent years, storm tanks need to be upgraded and the capacity to contain and manage sewage is clearly required.

Imagine not being able to live in your home due to flooding on your property? Or having to wade through 8 inches of water to leave your street, this is the everyday experience of residents in West Oxfordshire and its just NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

The community in the area is trying to get action, we are using several avenues to increase pressure, please sign this petition today to Join the cause.

In areas like Standlake and Eynsham new building proposals should be put on hold until the sewer systems are proven to be able to cope.

Please bring our sewage system into the 21st Century.
