Allow hunting in Franklin Mountains Texas State Park

The Issue

People living in El Paso and throughout West Texas, particularly soldiers stationed at Fort Bliss are desperate for public land available for hunting. This espessialy impacts soldiers who often come from states with large amounts of public land which they can freely hunt, only to find here that they will most often have to pay more than they can afford for a sub-par hunting experience. This leads to them hating the area and to low morale. Texas is known a great state for hunting but there are very few who are able to in West Texas due to the lack public land which allows hunting. The Franklin Mountains State Park is a 24,000 acre resource abundant with wildlife which could be hunted safely in large areas particularly in the northern half. By allowing hunting in areas of the park more people in West Texas would have reason to purchase the Annual Public Hunting Permit. Many people and soldiers living in Fort Bliss, El Paso and throughout West Texas are forced to apply for the draw to hunt public land in New Mexico, buy land or pay egregious amounts of money to hunt on private land. By allowing the people of West Texas to fully utilize this resource by hunting it would allow for more effective management of the mule deer herd and could even draw outdoorsman and women from other parts of the state and country to hunt, increasing the outdoor tourism in the area and benefiting the El Paso economy.
