Indoor Skatepark for Riders of Any Kind

The Issue

There are few things more agonizing than not being able to enjoy a skatepark because of poor weather conditions. As a result of the weather permitting nature of these sports, accessible indoor facilities must be in place to support the expanding community of riders.

There are currently 0 indoor skateparks within 150 miles of Austin, Texas. This leaves the area starving for a sheltered place to ride, making an indoor park valuable. Therefore, able to become self-sustainable.

Furthermore, an indoor park would decrease conflicts and safety hazards from riding in restricted areas that are protected from the weather such as store fronts and parking garages.

Being cooped inside can be a hazard to the physical and mental health of skateboarding, BMXing, scootering, roller skating enthusiasts and those alike. Not only are these activities great sources of exercise, they help fulfill fundamental human needs such as belonging, self-esteem, creativity, and personal and social development. Having a park protected from the elements would reduce the adverse effects that members of the riding community suffer through and enhance their development as members of society and athletes.
