Texas Juvenile Code

Texas Juvenile Code
The Issue
In the state of Texas, children under the age of 10 years old are not considered juvenile, as they lack the capacity to have criminal intent. With that being said Texas believes they do not know the difference between right and wrong. I strongly disagree with the State of Texas, I believe we start to teach our children the difference between right and wrong as babies. My opinion is by age 7, a child knows the difference between right and wrong. The reason I started this petition and the reason this means so much to me, is because in 2020 my seven year old nephew was shot and killed by a nine year old boy. our family never got justice for my nephew and we probably never will because of Texas law. However, if something like this happens again in the future, we want and hope that the victim's family can get justice for what is deserved.
