CLOSE BORDER FROM LOUISIANA TO TEXAS

The Issue

Governor Abbott, and Mayors, and City Officials,

We TEXANS, hereby, petition YOU to close the Texas Border with Louisiana, IMMEDIATELY.

News report indicate that New Orleans, Louisiana, is fast becoming a “Hot Zone” for Covid-19 spread.

Hospitals over there are becoming overwhelmed.  Louisianians – who need all types of medical care – will no doubt drive to Texas for medical care (as they have done in the past disasters).

As our elected officials, it is incumbent upon YOU to protect TEXANS – and the sovereignty, security, health and safety TEXANS in our great state from the Covid-19 outbreak.

Close the traffic alongside Texas Border with Louisiana IMMEDIATELY (except for essential trade and resources), send the Texas State Guard and appropriate police forces, to stop traffic.  In addition, quarantine all flights coming into Texas from “hot zones” in Louisiana and throughout the Nation.

Shouldn’t Texas be a “Good Neighbor” (e.g. Hurricane Katrina)?  Yes!  However, we do this by SLOWING the spread of Covid-19 within Texas!  We CANNOT help Louisianians if our own hospitals become “Hot Zones” for Covid-19!  We must SLOW the spread over here (in Texas), so that we can be “Good Neighbors” by sending available doctors, nurses, and resources to fight the battle in Louisiana.

Finally, we TEXANS demand local and state level LEADERSHIP to take preemptive ACTION against Covid-19.  This means we demand that local and state level POLITICAL OFFICIALS base their preemptive actions on sound medical science, not “hunches” or “feelings” – This virus does NOT care what your political party you belong to, or what religion you practice!   This virus does not care what the economic impact of closing the borders will have.  Covid-19 only desires to infect and make people VERY SICK.

The “Eyes of Texas” are upon YOU, and should you allow the PEOPLE of Texas to suffer a Covid-19 outbreak like New York City or New Orleans, you will NOT have my vote come election day.
