Dear TDCJ, Dear People 

At the moment the Texas "Department Of Criminal Justice " doesn't allow international calls. 

We all know that in order to maintain close contact with families and friend phone calls are really important and a blessing for every family that has a loved one incarcerated in Texas prisons. 
Unfortunately there is one group out here, namely the LO’s, family and friends of inmates who live overseas who has always had to deal with a ban on phone calls.
The only way of communication we have is mail. We are trying to maintain the bound with our loved ones but it has taken a toll on us. TDCJ knows the impact that the family unit has on successful reentry.  

Securus has the ability to process overseas families with the same level of security as US citizens and we can have a US number using a passport. But unfortunately the Texas friends and family enrolment Center doesn’t allow us to register the phone number using an international passport.

It's already hard having a loved one incarcerated, but being unable to hear their voices is torture. Some of the families have to go through all this for years, and some maybe decades or longer. Time is precious, so is the contact to your family and loved ones.  

It should be a right to all of us having at least phonecalls.

It's about that time that the TDCJ finally does something about this, as it's a big discrimination to people from other countries. 

It's a little change to them, but a meaningful and big one for us all! 

TDCJ, we ask you to please change this now.
