STOP the Greenhouse Road Landfill in Houston, TX, from Expanding

The Issue

The Greenhouse Road Landfill is planning a 30 acre expansion that will extend the life of the landfill to another 30 years and become a prominent eyesore along Clay Road and Greenhouse Road. If approved, the filled landfill will be 6 stories above ground level. This area of West Houston used to be more rural when the landfill was built in the early 1980's, but now it is a well developed residential area. We want to clean up our area and keep it safe for our families. Expanding the landfill further into our community is not acceptable.

All permits and documentation on the request can be found here:
http://www.biggsandmathews.com/permitView.php?projectID=116

Please sign the petition to protect us from this eyesore along Clay Road and Greenhouse Road. Concerns include:
- Terrible smells
- Noise pollution from the bulldozers and large equipment
- Increased chances for flooding becs it is higher than all our homes
- Lower property values
- Contaminating our ground
- Dust everywhere, just like it currently is on Greenhouse
- Trucks entering and exiting the landfill so fast that they are barely yielding to the traffic that has right of way

Further updates to the landfill will be made on www.stopgreenhouselandfill.com
