Tesco should give food donations to charities not Olio, and allow morning pick ups

The Issue

From 1 April, Tesco have been making their Sunday surplus food donations open to everyone on the basis that whoever accepts first gets the food.  They also require organisations to pick up in the evening.  This supercedes their long-term approach of allowing morning pick-ups and giving the Sunday evening food to a named charity.  Olio - whom anyone can sign up with - is one of the organisations that can get the Sunday food.  So now charities are in competition with Olio for the food. Many charities also struggle to pick up food in the evening.

Tesco's website states "in some areas and stores, there are no charities available to collect any surplus food.  To avoid the food going to waste, Olio Food Waste Heroes come to the rescue and collect the surplus food instead".  This is clearly not what is happening.

We request that Tesco changes the policy back to give the food to named charities, and re-allow morning pick-ups.
