Colin the caterpillar has always been an iconic part of British childhoods, and Tesco's decision to change his name was disgraceful. There is no excuse for changing such a quintessential part of our history. He was a beautiful, delicious birthday cake that is a huge part of British culture and there was no reason to change that. 

We know that Colin still goes by the same name in other supermarkets, but Tesco should do the same. We shouldn't have to shop somewhere else just to find a caterpillar with the original and only acceptable name. Tesco was a great supermarket before they decided to change something like this. 

A child somewhere, is having a birthday right now, not able to see their friends, not able to have a party or celebrate the way they usually might because of lockdown rules. All this, just to find out that the birthday cake they wanted, had the name changed from the recognisable 'Colin' on the box.
