Tesco - Help stop animal cruelty, and end your contract with Avara Foods.

The Issue

BBC News have reported today that Gravel Farm, a supplier to Avara Foods have had their Red Tractor certification taken away due to the horrific conditions inside one of their facilities which houses turkeys before they are slaughtered for the Christmas Market.

You can see the footage here. Be warned, it's disturbing.

From the article:

"The farm was certified by Red Tractor, which requires produce to be "traceable, safe and farmed with care".

A spokeswoman said the farm had been suspended from the scheme immediately after the footage was shared.

"We were shocked to see the footage and the farm's membership from our scheme has been terminated," she said,

"We have reported Gravel Farm to the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) to investigate whether any legal action should be taken."

The farm supplies turkeys to Avara Foods, which processes 4.5 million chickens, turkey and ducks a week."

Tescos, please end your contract with Avara, and stop selling their products immediately until a full, independent investigation is carried out to ensure all of their facilities are up to the highest standards of animal welfare regulations.

Avara's own website champions their humane practices claiming all their facilities are up to standards. Not anymore. They need to change their wording immediately.

We demand immediate action, regardless of profit loss, and ask that EVERY supplier tou work with is subject to thorough checks across all facilities before you start selling their products.

No animal needs to die. No animal needs to be tortured. Save lives. Stop the slaughter.
