Ask Tesco to stop selling fireworks
Ask Tesco to stop selling fireworks
Why this petition matters

Each year fireworks cause terrible fear and upset to animals, domestic and wild, and to many people in our communities all over the country, including those with mental health issues, people suffering from PTSD, and the elderly. The fear and upset goes on for days and weeks! leading up to and after the 5th November. There is also the strain put on the emergency services and the NHS due to injuries and anti-social behaviour. It's time to stop selling them to the general public and have them at official displays only. How can it be allowed to sell a product to the general public that contains gunpowder and a detonator? last year Sainsbury's decided to stop selling them and become part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. We are asking all major supermarkets to follow their enlightened lead. The government advocates more education on the effects fireworks have on people, and asks people who buy them to be more considerate. It is clear this is a 'cop out' and it's clearly not working, as figures show the problem is getting worse. It seems the retailers who carry on selling them are clearly only interested in profit at any cost. Tesco, are you going to aim to become part of the solution or continue being part of the problem?
